Opportunity Description:

We are thrilled to announce that once again, Halifax will have a multicultural event: The Mosaic Festival of Arts and Culture. Breaking the mould of past festivals, we are creating a unique celebration of our city’s diverse cultures – showcasing the talents of newcomer filmmakers from Nova Scotia and beyond and also pairing a vibrant parade of music and dance with a waterfront party of concert, festival and vendors.   With the support of Halifax Waterfront Development, Downtown Halifax Business Commission, Port Authority and Halifax Regional Municipality, plans are underway for the three-day event starting on Friday, August 30th through to Sunday, September 1st. To make this event a success and fun for everyone, we are searching for a team of volunteers.   Overview of the event   The 2019 Mosaic Festival of Arts and Culture will kick off with a premiere film festival, which will take place on August 30th at the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21. The film festival will be a forum for filmmakers from Atlantic Canada and beyond to share their experiences, cultural identity and journey.   On August 31st we will showcase different cultures and diversity through a parade along Lower Water Street, the family-friendly event will feature music and dance from around the world. We are inviting representatives from as many cultures as possible, giving them an opportunity to share their unique heritage. The parade will start at Pier 21 – symbolic of Halifax’s strong ties with welcoming newcomers.   To end the festival, on September 1st will be a day-long series of performances (song, dance and more) along side with booths of various vendors from Nova Scotia and beyond showcasing their arts and crafts and selling their food.   How to Volunteer   If you would like to volunteer, please email your resume to with the following:   Your age Availability for the three days Which culture you represent and any languages you speak Any relevant volunteer experience
