Opportunity Description:

Out of The Cold Shelter is an emergency winter shelter looking to recruit volunteers for the 2019-2020 season. We hope to open our doors in December and to do that we need people like you! When you join Out of The Cold Shelter (OTCS) you’ll be joining a compassionate, inclusive, hard working team. OTCS is going into it’s 12th year of serving the community. We are typically based out of downtown Halifax and provide an evening drop-in/warming center, and overnight refuge to people who are homeless and precariously housed in our community. Past volunteers have said this has been one of the most rewarding experiences in their lives. We are looking for volunteers for front-line evening, overnight, and morning shifts, daytime assistance, preparing meals, transporting laundry or groceries, and much more. We have opportunities to volunteer 24/7, including holidays. We are asking volunteers to commit to a regular weekly or biweekly shift, since we run from December until the end of April. If you, your friends, coworkers, or students want to volunteer as a group, no problem! We are open and flexible to working with any schedule. For more information or to submit an application email: You can visit us at or on or twitter @OTChfx
