Chebucto Links (Chebucto Links – Volunteer Board Members (2 year term, renewable))

Chebucto Links is a non-profit organization linking older persons with supports, services, information and programs since 1995. We are seeking individuals to serve on our Board of Directors who are committed to assisting Chebucto Links in its mission to enable older persons living in Halifax to remain in their community, and maintain their independence, dignity and sense of wellbeing. Board members play an integral role in the operations of Chebucto Links and are expected to advise, govern, oversee policy and direction, and assist with leadership and general promotion of Chebucto Links. Board members are also expected to participate in monthly board meetings (excluding December, June, July & August) held in Halifax, and to volunteer on ad-hoc committees as necessary. A time commitment of four hours per month (meetings, preparation, and consultation) is anticipated. Board members must be able to commit to a minimum term of 2 years. Identifying as an older adult is not a necessary pre-requisite for this role, but having an avid interest in and/or being involved with older persons would be considered an asset. Additionally, having a history of involvement in the following areas would be very welcome: not-for-profits, communications, fundraising, and community development.
