Tetra is a non-profit organization with the goal of bringing independence and quality of life to Canadians. For over 35 years Tetra’s volunteers have built custom devices that provided our clients with greater independence to pursue activities that they need and want to do. Our local volunteers design, construct and install custom assistive devices for children, teens, adults and older adults – there is no charge for any labour or materials to the client. Tetra’s volunteers give their time and skills to address the unique needs of each individual when creating each personal assistive device. The device addresses a barrier in their daily living: at home, at school, at work, and at play participating in a recreational activity, hobby, or a sport. Since 1987, Tetra volunteers across Canada have completed over 8,000 projects: Modifying toys Adapting desks Refining sports equipment Attaching personal care equipment such as drinking systems and holders for phones, computer tablets, canes, and umbrellas to wheelchairs, scooters, and walkers.ul> Tetra volunteers provide assistance when a commercially available product cannot address a barrier, or when a product does not meet the individual, unique needs of a person with a disability. These devices enhance the independence, health, and quality of life for those who receive them.To see examples of completed projects visit: www.tetrasociety.org
