The Start2Finish Running & Reading Club is a dynamic after-school program that is operating within multiple inner city schools and servicing hundreds of children across Canada. The Running & Reading Clubs equips children by addressing literacy, physical activity, and self-confidence. The program is based on a fitness and literacy model, which is comprised of a fitness and health component, a nutritious snack, and a reading component that increases children’s love of reading, positively impacting their literacy skills. We are looking for enthusiastic people who enjoy fitness, literacy or both and want to help the next generation develop a healthy active lifestyle while having fun! Timing: The program runs once a week after school or at lunch time for 2 hours. Here are the schools to choose from: St. Joseph’s-Alexander McKay School, Wednesdays 12:10-12:50pm (5389 Russell St., Halifax NS B3K 1W8) Central Spryfield Elementary School, Tuesdays 3:00-5:00pm (364 Herring Cove Road, Halifax NS B3R 1V8) Harbour View School, Tuesdays 2:45-4:45pm (25 Alfred St., Dartmouth NS B3A 4E8) Qualifications: – A sincere desire to be motivate children through fitness and literacy – Active listener – Enthusiastic and self-motivated – Empathic Please send application inquiries to zoe.sherar@start2finishonline.org.
