Opportunity Description:

Put your organizational skills to great use in the name of Greening School Grounds!Evergreen’s Learning Grounds Program helps bring Nature and food gardens to schools. The creation of outdoor play and learning spaces provides students with healthy, natural and creative outdoor environments. With school back in full swing, Fall is the busy season here at the Learning Grounds Program. The Office Assistant will play an important role in the smooth running of the program from behind the scenes. Your role will be to ensure that all the key school greening materials (such as project drawings, photos, documents, etc) are well cataloged, both physically and digitally. What you bring: You’re very organized and detail oriented. You work well independently and are good at managing your time. You have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite or OpenOffice, and are comfortable with photo management. When & where: This is a 3 hr. per week position, for 6 to 8 weeks beginning in September (start date is flexible). You will be working out of the Department of Education and early Childhood Development Office, 2021 Brunswick St, Halifax. How we’ll support you: You will receive a general Evergreen orientation with our Program Coordinator as well as on the job training and support with the School Ground Greening Consultant. Evergreen will also send you regular volunteer news to keep you in the loop. Perks: This is a great opportunity to gain experience both in a non-profit and government office setting. Coffee/tea provided, along with reference letter, if requested. Good to know: This position requires a dress code of no jeans or “worded-logo” attire when in office, as per the Department of Education office guidelines.
