Ronald McDonald House Charities® Atlantic was established to provide a home away from home for out-of-town families with sick children and offers family-centered programs which promote healing and togetherness. Along with good medical attention, children also need their families close by and Ronald McDonald House Charities® Atlantic has helped to make that happen for over 30 years. Ronald McDonald House Charities® Atlantic also extends this care to the hospital setting in Maritime communities through the Ronald McDonald Family Room® program. Ronald McDonald House Charities® Atlantic is currently inviting applications for the position of Volunteer Handyman/Maintenance Volunteer. The Opportunity The primary responsibility of the Volunteer Handyman is to provide their skills and time commitment to work on facility maintenance of the property at Ronald McDonald House. The Volunteer Handyman is a key member of our team providing support of the House program and allowing us to further of mission of helping families in need. We ask that our volunteers in this role make a commitment in which they come in for a 2-4 hour shift (this time commitment is flexible) during business hours weekly. We offer morning and afternoon shifts to accommodate differing schedules. The Volunteer Handyman should be knowledgeable with skills in general maintenance & problem solving. This position reports to the Operations Manager and also supports the volunteer team. Skills and Qualifications General contracting knowledge, basic maintenance skills (trade skills are an asset), work experience in a related field, and supervision/management skills are an asset. Key job tasks of Volunteer Handyman/Maintenance Volunteer: Perform a wide variety of general building maintenance repairs and services Install light bulbs, doors, cabinets, paneling, carpet, locks, etc… Garbage removal Operating power tools and other equipment Paint interior and exterior walls and cabinets; hang wallpaper and pictures; assemble furniture Coordinate special projects as directed by the Operations Manager To apply Please fill out a volunteer application at www.rmhatlantic.ca indicating your interest in this role.
