Halifax Dump and Run (Halifax Dump and Run- Charity Event)

• Appropriate for youth (i.e., less than 18)
• Appropriate for volunteers aged between 18 and 55
• Appropriate for volunteers aged 55 and over
• Training or orientation required

The Halifax Dump and Run is Halifax’s largest community garage sale! Our goal is to divert waste from local landfills by collecting items people no longer have use for and selling them, discounted, at a gymnasium-sized indoor yard sale in order to raise money for charitable organizations. Last year we raised $13,000 for charity. To be successful, the Dump and Run not only requires the donation of items for sale, but it also relies on a strong network of volunteers to help collect, sort and sell the items. What we need YOU for: Pick-Ups – April 28 and 29 collect and pick up items that are being donated. Sorter – On April 28 and 29 we will need volunteers to sort and label donated items once they have arrived at Dalhousie. Driver – On April 28 and 29 we need people to drive around in trucks collecting donated items from different university buildings and members of the community (Must have a valid NS license). Event Day Helper – On April 30 we need volunteers for a variety of things from making sure people pay for their items, to restocking, answering questions and ensuring that we don’t exceed the number of people allowed in the gym and more. Clean up – On May 1 we will be at Dalhousie sorting through the leftover items and cleaning up the gym. If any of these roles interest you please apply here.
