Opportunity Description:

Shelter Movers Nova Scotia is looking for a motivated individual with a positive attitude, strong research and written communication skills to help us with grant applications. The grant writer will be reporting to the Fund Development Manager and will be responsible for researching and writing grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations. Responsibilities: -Research potential grant opportunities from organizations that align with the mission/values of Shelter Movers. -Develop and write/co-write grant proposals, grant reports and acknowledgements to current and potential funders, including developing clear, concise and compelling content, copy-editing and reformatting text. -Connect with grant-making foundations and organizations to solicit feedback and establish positive working relationships. -Report to the Fund Development Manager and Chapter Director to update specific grant applications. Regular check-ins will be established to help monitor projects, progress, deliverables and timelines. This is a work from home, virtual role. An estimated 3 to 6 hours a week. Time commitment may fluctuate or increase as a grant proposal deadline approaches. This is an unpaid volunteer position. Shelter Movers volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, complete an interview process, sign a confidentiality agreement, complete and pass a police reference check, and attend a Trauma-Informed Care Orientation session. The Grant Writer will be completing additional role-specific training.
