Opportunity Description:

We are looking for puppy raisers! We are looking for puppy raisers to begin training within the next few months for when we have our next puppy intake. REQUIREMENTS: – reliable transportation – ability to attend weekly training sessions (Sundays) – ability to record training and provide reports (we will provide the training necessary on these tasks) – basic knowledge of clicker training and positive training methods (does not have to be experienced with hands on, but knowledge is important) – dedication to the cause – basic knowledge of what service dogs do ASSETS – professional attitude and a great team player – takes initiative – flexible to attend private or semi-private sessions a couple of times a month – ability to take on other tasks, but not required This is a volunteer commitment, but we do provide all necessary equipment and costs. We will provide training for the volunteer on appropriate training methods. you will be required to follow our training plan. You MAY have a dog and other pets of your own, provided they do not have inappropriate behaviours that may cause problems for our puppy. We do perform a home check and assess the other pets. This is for the well-being of our K9PAD dogs. Puppy Raising with K9PAD includes alot of hands on training. You will provide much of the basic training and some advanced training for our dogs. When you begin with our organization, you will learn everything you need to know to teach your puppy. Puppy Raisers are often required to attend fundraising events with their puppy.
