About the Organization: Halifax Regional CAP Association (HRCAP) is a non-profit organization comprised of staff, board members, volunteers, and student interns who collectively unify and provide a network of local CAP (Community Access Program) sites across Halifax Regional Municipality. The mandate of HRCAP is to provide all members of the community with access and exposure to technology, and to deliver innovative and exciting programs that help bridge the “digital divide.” By connecting people to technology, training and opportunities which open doors for growth and development, HRCAP advances economic, social and cultural priorities through technology and innovation, helping to build strong, sharing, cooperative, and competitive communities. Our Mission: HRCAP unifies a network of CAP sites and plays a leadership role in strengthening the capacity of its members through advocacy and collaboration. Fundraising Consultant – Job Description and Expectations Purpose: The fundraising consultant is an independent adviser contracted to develop and implement a strategy for raising capital to support the organization’s mission and needs. Major responsibilities: Liaising with the Executive Director to develop a fundraising strategy, to be approved by the Board of Directors Researching potential sources of funding including grants, donors, corporate contributors and foundations Development of promotional materials and liaising with members of the external community Length of term: The Fundraising Consultant can provide their services on an ad hoc basis to support the development of individual projects or, if desired, for longer term fundraising objectives. Meetings and time commitment: The Fundraising Consultant will meet with HRCAP’s Coordinator on a monthly basis at an agreed upon time to discuss fundraising goals, strategy, timeline, and so forth. The Fundraising Consultant is also welcome to attend Board of Directors meetings which occur on the last Thursday of the month, 10AM, at 3115 Veith Street. Meetings typically last 90 minutes. Qualifications: Previous fundraising experience for a non-profit organization Relevant degree, such as a Bachelor of Commerce, considered an asset Candidate should be a strong salesperson, possessing the ability to negotiate, build and maintain relations and inspire others Candidate should have a keen understanding of various fundraising techniques including: committed giving, direct marketing and corporate giving For more information please contact us at hrca@nscap.com.
