Opportunity Description:

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE: The Good Food Café Prep Volunteer Facilitator reports directly to the Food Skills Coordinator. We believe that the relationship between Staff and Volunteer should be one of mutual respect and confidence. GOOD FOOD CAFÉ PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS: What is the Good Food Cafe Prep Program? The goal of the Good Food Café Prep Program is to bring community volunteers together in a positive, relaxed, and supportive environment to create the good food menu that will be offered at our weekly Good Food Café. It is held every Thursday from 2:30 PM until 4:30 PM. The Good Food Cafe Prep Facilitator works to create a positive social and learning environment for volunteer community participants in the kitchen. Our approach is rooted in strengths-based practice and an anti-oppression model. We ask that facilitators share our commitment to working within these models. S/he facilitates the delivery of the Good Food Café Prep program together with other staff and volunteers. What is the Good Food Café? The Good Food Café runs every Friday morning alongside our Good Food Produce Market from 10 AM until 12 PM. The food is provided to the Community at no cost and is mostly offered buffet style where people serve themselves from our café counter. DUTIES OF THE GOOD FOOD CAFÉ PREP VOLUNTEER FACILITATOR: • Facilitate weekly Good Food Café Prep sessions in coordination with other staff and volunteers • Build relationships with participants using a strengths based approach • Ensure all volunteers are practicing safe food handling at all times • Assist in the organization of equipment and ingredients before and during each program • Assist in the cleanup after programming • Assist in the following of recipes, demonstrate techniques etc. • Carry out other duties required to deliver quality programming GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: • Adhere to the policies and procedures of the Dartmouth North Community Food Centre • Complete volunteer application and required documentation • Ability and skill to work sensitively, supporting individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences• Punctual and dependable, please contact if unable to attend • Ability to work as part of a team • The ability to respect the confidentiality of information regarding program participants, children and staff
