Opportunity Description:

We are urgently looking for volunteers to manage our exhibitor booth on Saturday, September 14 from 10am – 3pm at The Word On The Street Festival at Halifax Central Library. Are you an extrovert with a passion for reading and writing looking for a creative outlet to engage people? We need you for our exhibitor booth at the upcoming The Word On The Street festival in Halifax to help us promote the Ripple Foundation. This is our first year taking part in this exciting festival celebrating the written word, and we have a booth in the Village section of the festival. We need volunteers to hand out materials, speak about our programs, and to promote Ripple Foundation. We want to encourage more young writers in grade 4-8 from Halifax and all of Nova Scotia to enter this year’s Kids Write 4 Kids writing contest. One of our previous winners, who lives locally will be reading her published title. We are looking for one of our volunteers to facilitate her Q&A at the end of her book reading. Ambassadors at the Halifax WOTS festival would be engaged in the following: RESPONSIBILITIES Represent the Ripple Foundation and spread the word about our programs. Set up and takedown exhibitor booth at the festival. Work with other volunteers to effectively run the booth. Assist with our local winner’s reading at the main stage by facilitating a Q&A with her. Collect feedback, comments from attendees, and take photos to be used for social media sharing. QUALIFICATIONS Excellent communication skills and an approachable manner. Engaging and positive interactions with young people and families. Interpersonal skills to interact with organization co-ordinators and other peers.
