Opportunity Description:

Roles and Responsibilities The position(s) have the responsibility to assist people who are experiencing poverty in Halifax|Dartmouth: Be an ambassador for Red Bear Healing Home Treat people with respect Develop and maintain community relationships and networks Build a sense of trust in our communities Honest, reliable, patient and friendly Detail oriented •   Motivated/self-starter Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; a good listener Agree to Red Bear Healing Homes principles and mandate Must be able to maintain confidentiality of participants and the information that is collected Knowledge of or interested in learning about services available to people experiencing poverty Post-secondary education or equivalent with experience working in the voluntary sector or with people who are experiencing poverty an asset Outreach Volunteer has the responsibility for assisting people who are experiencing poverty sign up for free voice mail.  The main duties are: Post posters in the community Develop and maintain community relationships | networks Collect personal, confidential information Ensure people using the system understand how it works • Email executive director after each visit in a timely manner Be available at soup kitchens, food banks, community events and other nonprofits for in person sign up to free voice mail Provide referrals, resources, and information to/about community resources when requested Events Committee Assist Red Bear Healing Home raise funds by assisting in organizing fundraising event Assists in volunteer recruitment, promotions, postering and event logistics Business Plan Developer Assists in the development of Red Bear Healing Homes business plan   Benefits Help your community be a healthier place to live Set a good example for others Strengthen your sense of belonging Share and/or gain skills, knowledge and expertise Reports To                                Executive Director Start Date                 ASAP / Negotiable Term                                        3 months to 1 year – approximately three to ten hours per month Remuneration                          None – Volunteer Application Process   Call for further information and/or forward a letter of interest, resume and three (3) references to: Carla Conrod Founder | Executive Director Red Bear Healing Home ed@myredbear.com 902-448-4744
