The adjudicator’s assistant job is important to the success of the NS Kiwanis Music Festival. We are grateful to you for donating your time. Due to the nature of the role, this position is best suited to those who have some previous volunteer experience, are highly organized, strong communicators, and have some administrative skill. Your responsibilities begin when competitors enter the room for each class in the Festival. Sit with the adjudicator and assist him/her as needed. All communication with the adjudicator must be done through the Adjudicator’s Assistant. Maintain the published class order, unless otherwise noted by the Festival Office. Once you have received their music from competitors it should be sorted to follow the class order in the program and handed to the Adjudicator. A student who does not appear for their appointed time slot will be called to perform at the end of the class. The Adjudicator will write comments after each performance and indicate to you when to call the next performer. Prepare award certificates for presentation to Festival participants. Complete the Mark Sheet for your session and place it in the Mark Sheet Envelope. Give this Envelope to the Venue Manager so it can be delivered to a Festival staff person. In the event that the Venue Manager does not arrive, leave the Mark Sheet Envelope with the Adjudicator. The Adjudicator should also have the marks recorded in his/her copy of the Festival Program.
