We are committed to helping seniors stay connected and active in the community. We provide programming to seniors by delivering fitness programs, social groups & games via Zoom. Our Mission: Chebucto Links Senior Support Association provides community programs, information, and resources for seniors. Our Values: Seniors are active, informed, and socially connected. The Role: We are seeking new volunteers to join our Board of Directors. The term is for 2 years with possible renewal up to 3 terms. Who should apply: We are looking for new Board Members (19 years old +) who can enhance our Mission & Values. We ask that Board Members commit to: Being interested in creating a safe and active community for seniors. Attend Board meetings (once a month, except for July, August, and December). Prepare for Board meetings by reviewing advance materials. Develop an understanding and appreciation for the organization’s mission, vision, strategic plan, bylaws, and financial position. By bringing the community into the correctional environment, volunteers help offenders function more effectively upon release into the community. Parkinson Canada Support Group Facilitator

Description: Support Group Facilitator Parkinson Canada is the definitive voice for the Parkinson’s community in Canada. Our purpose is to transform the lives of people living with Parkinson’s. We do this through research leading to better treatments and the end of Parkinson’s, advocacy bringing the voices of Parkinson’s to the forefront and support that helps people live well with Parkinson’s through education and services. A national registered charity, Parkinson Canada operates through the generosity of donors and is an accredited organization under the Imagine Canada Standards Program. The Opportunity The Support Group Facilitator plays a critical role in the delivery of support services at community level.  Once a month, they create a confidential and welcoming virtual space, where people living with Parkinson’s and/or their care partners can share their experiences and develop supportive relationships in a group setting.  The time commitment for this opportunity is 3 – 5 hours per month. We are urgently seeking Support Group Facilitators in Halifax and on the East Coast. Parkinson Canada has suspended in-person support group activities until further notice.  At present time, all support groups are taking place virtually. Your Contribution As a Support Group Facilitator, you bring a keen desire to make a difference in the lives of people affected by Parkinson’s.  Your empathetic approach, enthusiasm for learning, and ability to facilitate discussion about issues related to Parkinson’s are key factors in ensuring that monthly support groups are safe spaces. Community Kitchen Volunteer

Description: The Loaded Ladle is a student-run organization located on Dalhousie University. We are a kitchen that provides local, sustainable, locally-sourced free food on campus to students and community members! We also offer events and activities which critically examine barriers to food sovereignty, food security, and food justice. Our Food Servings Program in the SUB kitchen runs between September and April, serving 200+ meals a day, four days a week! You can sign up for a block in the morning (9:30AM-12:00PM) or in the afternoon (12:00PM-2:00PM) on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. You can also sign up for our prep parties on Mondays and Wednesdays in late afternoon. Volunteers typically help prepare and cook food by chopping veggies, making cake batter, or preparing salads. Around lunchtime, you might be in charge of handing out food to people over the counter. At the end of the day, we clean our kitchen thoroughly!
