The Keshen Goodman Public Library, which sits at the gateway of Clayton Park’s Mainland Common, is a 25,000 square foot library with a collection of over 100,000 titles. This uniquely-designed structure opened in 2001, and it boasts a 20 foot ceiling and a cozy café with a fireplace. The library offers self-check machines, self-service holds, and room rentals. It also serves as a resource for information and technology with iPads, Google Chromebooks, public access computers, Internet access, and a variety of office and children’s software. An Information Technology Training Centre is also available for community group use. The Keshen Goodman Public Library, which won a 2002 Lieutenant-Governor’s Design Award for Architecture, was built through a bequest left to the Halifax Regional Library by Marion Keshen in honour of the Keshen Goodman family.
