The Glass Slipper Organization is a non profit started by five high school students to help other students in financial need. We collect and donate prom dresses and other attire FREE of cost to anyone who attends our annual GIVEAWAY events. Our goal is to help ease stress and ensure that everyone has the chance to feel exceptionally beautiful on their prom day by receiving a dress as a gift from their community. We are partnered with Halifax Public Libraries, that provide a location for our event, and are sponsored by Don Schelew Dry Cleaners who generously clean all donated dresses before our giveaway event. We are looking for talented, passionate  individuals who are looking to help out their community! We have positions for all genders and ages.

I interviewed my dad on video in his final weeks. When I asked about his work and finding meaning through helping others, he responded, “I don’t think you can be focused on, ‘Oh gee, I want to make a difference.’ It has to be spontaneous. If it’s not…there’s some kind of egotistical thing going on. That’s a red flag. You hope you impact people on the deepest level you are capable of at the time. Sometimes you hit it, sometimes you don’t. You’re trying.
