Paganini’s Fire and Schubert’s “Great”

Paganini’s First Violin Concerto is a wildly explosive, technically demanding showpiece, blazing with colour and fireworks – and last time Symphony Nova Scotia played it, with Canadian virtuoso Yi-Jia Susanne Hou, the Chronicle Herald called it “an astonishing performance” that “caused jaws to sag.” Now, ten years later, Susanne returns for a long-overdue encore of this dazzling work.
