Atlantic Canada’s largest multicultural dance festival fans out to a month-long celebration of diversity through dance

2019 FUSE Festival programming includes a 19+ Dance Party, DJ/Dance battles, Pop-Up Flash Mob dances and dance-along sessions along with a variety of free, interactive events that span across Halifax leading up to the quintessential Canadian dance showcase and party on July 1st

HALIFAX, May 23, 2019 /FUSE/ – Dance artists across the city are teaming up with the FUSE Festival throughout the month of June to take part in sharing an unprecedented union of cultural, community, and professional dance.

Presented by the FUSE Festival, a not-for-profit performing arts initiative that promotes the power and diversity of dance, the month-long series of mostly free dance activities promises to be an exciting lead up to a full-day of free interactive performances and dance sessions on July 1, Canada Day, presented in partnership with HRM’s 2019 Canada Day program.

Just in its second year of operations, the FUSE Festival presents Nova Scotians with a fresh take on dance and diversity by shining a spotlight on the cultural heritage of local artists. With the support of sponsors and community partners, the FUSE Festival presents a month-long opportunity for audiences of all ages to express and experience Halifax’s unique artistic identities through the universal language of music and dance.

“After the huge success of the bi-annual FUSE Festival in 2017 as a signature project of Canada’s 150th anniversary, for which we sought input from a wide range of communities across the HRM; we realized that we needed more than just one day on Canada Day to showcase our rich cultural heritage through dance,” said Maria Osende, Director of the FUSE Festival.

“We invite everyone in Halifax, residents and visitors, to discover the impressive and diverse talents of our city’s talented dancers and to have fun exploring the many events FUSE is hosting for all ages and dance backgrounds throughout the month of June. And of course, rain or shine, we hope to see everyone at the massive dance party that we are hosting on the Halifax Commons on July 1st during the Festival’s flagship event on Canada’s 152nd birthday.”

You will recognize the FUSE team and dedicated volunteers through the red and white Canada Day themed FUSE t-shirts, which we will be available for purchase.
