The Canadian Mental Health Association, Halifax-Dartmouth Branch, invites all artists to participate in the 16th Annual Mosaic for Mental Health. This exhibition consists of 6”x6” individual works of art. The Annual Mosaic for Mental Health has become a powerful expression of artists who care about mental health and mental illness.

CMHA promotes the mental health of all and supports the resilience and recovery of people experiencing mental illness. Proceeds from the Mosaic for Mental Health support the Social Programs of CMHA Halifax-Dartmouth Branch: Among Friends Social Club, Sharing & Caring Social Club and Building Bridges.

All media are welcome (painting, ceramics, drawing, textiles, photography, collage, prints, 3-D, etc.). However, artists are to create all work (with the exception of ceramic, sculpture or textiles) on/or attached to 6”x6” tiles, which are available from CMHA Halifax-Dartmouth Branch. Mosaic Tiles are to be displayed on wall holders; therefore, the bottom edge of the work cannot exceed 1/2” in
depth.

This year the exhibition will begin on Thursday, October 16th, 2014 from 7-9 pm, with a preview between 6-7 pm, until Sunday, November 2nd, 2014 at the Craig Gallery, Alderney Landing, Dartmouth, NS.

The submission deadline to be included in our Annual Mosaic Poster is Monday, September 22nd, 2014.
Every effort will be made to have one tile from each artist (submitted by September 22nd) on the poster. The size of the tile on the poster will depend on the number of individual artists. Final submission deadline for tiles is Wednesday, October 8th, 2014. If you cannot submit your tiles by this deadline, please give our office a call (455-5445) to make other arrangements.

All submissions will become the property of CMHA, Halifax-Dartmouth Branch and will be available for sale at $25.00 each. Artists wishing to have their business cards available at the gallery during the Art Sale and Exhibition should submit them to us along with your artwork.

For further information, please call 455-5445 or e-mail cmhahal@ns.aliantzinc.ca.

You nourish your soul by fulfilling your destiny, by developing the potential that the soul represents. When you fulfill your soul’s destiny, you will feel “right.” Conversely, when you ignore your soul’s destiny, when you get caught up in your own self-interests and forget to care for others, you will not feel “right.” Instead, you will feel empty and unfulfilled. During these times, you are neglecting your soul–you are depriving it of nourishment. When I talk to people who feel this emptiness and lack of fulfillment, I recommend they find a source of balance in their lives. I suggest they find a way to “give back” to the world in order to feel a sense of completeness.
