Opportunity Description:

Girl Guides of Canada–Guides du Canada (GGC) is a movement for girls, led by women. With hundreds of Guiders across Canada we are able to offer a range of activities that allows girls to develop friendships and self-confidence while exploring the arts, sciences, cultural awareness and so much more. Guiding lets girls from 5 to 17 try it all through enriching experiences that will stay with them for a lifetime. Whether it be camping, travel, developing entrepreneur skills through cookie sales or many of our programs, GGC gives girls unlimited opportunities to develop their skills and be successful. Becoming a Guider When you join Girl Guides as a Guider you’re embarking on an exciting journey. Each year from September to May, you’ll have the opportunity to help shape the next generation of girls through weekly activities, fun outings and programming that’s girl-centric, fun and engaging. There are so many possibilities. Your unit could go on an outdoor scavenger hunt, have a sleepover at a science centre or plant a tree. It’s up to you and your fellow Guiders on how you want to ignite the minds of girls. What’s more is the Guiding sisterhood offers you the ability to meet like-minded women, hone your leadership skills and develop new ones, while receiving continued training and opportunities to be an active member of your Girl Guides of Canada–Guides du Canada provincial council. Weekly Time Commitment Meetings once a week; occasional weekend activities Qualifications/Skills Someone who enjoys working with young girls, is energetic and wants to make a difference. • Enthusiasm to work with young girls ages 5 to 17 • Commitment to creating safe environments for girls, both emotionally and physically • Willingness to plan and facilitate girl-centered programming • Strong communication skills (e.g. with parents/guardians, girls and other Guiding leaders) • Team building skills • Strong organizational skills • Ability to pass Police Reference Check (PRC) Responsibilities • Provide responsible leadership to a group of girl or youth members while facilitating engaging programming • Commitment to creating safe environments for girls, both emotionally and physically • Communicate with parents/guardians • Adhere to the Girl Guide Code of Conduct and Safe Guide • Have fun What do you get by being a Guider?
