Opportunity Description:

Lung Month is in November and The Lung Association is working on a project to test local homes for radon. We need your help for kit delivery in the communities of Tantallon and Timberlea. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in Canada and estimated to cause 16% of lung cancers. Radon is everywhere around us and higher emissions in a home can be detrimental to one’s health. Help us, help these communities! What We Require: On Saturday November 14, 2015 from 11:00-4:00pm, LANS will assemble five two-person teams to go door-to-door in these communities, inform families about radon, and ask them to test their homes with a free kit we will provide. Transportation to these communities can be provided, if needed. Be a part of a team that could help save lives and the lungs of Nova Scotians! Training: There is a training component to this volunteer position. The date for the session will be Wednesday October 28, 2015 from noon-1pm or from 4:00-5:00pm. This session will give you background about radon, review what we would like you to say to those in the community, information about delivery day, and show you what a radon kit looks like.
